Malaysian headquartered Matahio Energy today announced the completion of the acquisition of Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil)’s 100% interest in ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Khorat (EMEPK) by Matahio and Horizon Oil Limited (Horizon).

The deal results in the acquisition of a 10% working interest in the E5N and EU1 development licences, onshore Thailand, which contains the producing Sinphuhorm conventional gas and condensate field, and an 80% interest in the E5 development licence, onshore Thailand, which contains the producing Nam Phong conventional gas field.

As Matahio looked to grow its upstream presence in Southeast Asia, Thailand presented a natural next step.

Matahio has engineered and installed solar energy in underserved communities, thus improving the lives of those communities. In partnership with TONIBUNG, we identified the Dusun indigenous community in Kg Walou, located 25 kilometres from the nearest main road in Ranau, Sabah, Malaysia.
